Walkhighlands is a free online resource for walkers in Scotland and features well over a hundred routes in the Cairngorms area, all with detailed descriptions and mapping.
Local routes include:
Craigellachie - these beautiful birchwoods are a National Nature Reserve, home to peregrine falcons and easily reached on foot from the centre of Aviemore.
Loch an Eilein - the circular walk around the loch here is deservedly popular and has recently been voted Britain's best place for a picnic.
Loch Morlich - this stunning loch surrounded by the magnificient pines of Rothiemurchus Forest gives superb views of the high mountains; it also has a blue-flag winning sandy beach.
Speyside Way - this 106km long distance route passes through Grantown-onSpey on its memorable journey from Spey Bay up the strath of this mighty river to Aviemore.
Cairngorm and Ben Macdui - in fine weather this tramp over the high plateau is a memorable adventure for experienced hillwalkers.
